There’s nothing wrong with the buffer or not ALWAYS having the cord over the shoulder. You can even using cheaper buffers than this no problem.
All the buffer does is to provide motion that takes place of what your hand would have to physically do. That’s it. It doesn’t take a million dollar piece of equipment OR a rocket scientist to be able to friggin buff your car.
Just listen to the basics from guys like this and you’ll be set!

You need a random orbit machine to get the best results..
Man, you DO need to have the cable off the side of the car – it can be round your neck if you don’t like the shoulder method but it’s totally necessary to avoid dragging it up and down the paint and probably putting more scratches on it.
